Flavian Dynasty (1)

In an attempt to better understand ancient Roman coinage, we have created this blog that illustrates the history of the Flavian Dynasty through their coins. The Flavian Dynasty, starting with such high hopes under Emperor Vespasian, slowly declined in grandeur under Vespasian’s first son and successor, Titus, and ended in ruin under his second son, Domitian. Notable achievements of the Flavian Dynasty include the victory by Vespasian and Titus over Judaea in the First Jewish Revolt, the plundering of the Second Jewish Temple, and the building of the Flavian Amphitheater, also known as the Colosseum.
